Basheshar Bhanot, a dedicated individual committed to education, community service, and social activism, led a remarkable life that left a lasting impact on those around him. Born and raised in India, he completed his early education in Kharar before pursuing further studies in shorthand and typewriting in New Delhi. Later, he moved to Chandigarh to work in the Chief Engineer's Office, where he continued his education and obtained a teaching diploma course at Sheffield University in 1964-65, a milestone that significantly advanced his teaching career.
After marrying Krishna Prasher, Bhanot relocated to Nairobi, Kenya, where he embarked on a successful teaching career. Working initially for an English company, he later joined the Education Department, where his dedication and diligence were evident. Despite the challenges of a demanding career, Bhanot and his wife welcomed four children into their family: Shashi, Ravi, Ritu, and Seema. In 1972, foreseeing policy changes, Bhanot decided to move his family to the UK.
Throughout his life, Bhanot demonstrated a deep commitment to community service and activism. In the UK, he served as the Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (UK) in Ilford and played a pivotal role in establishing a temple that became a central hub for the Hindu community. Additionally, he actively participated in various organizations and initiatives, including the Overseas Friends of B.J.P (U.K) East London Branch, Redbridge Race Relations Council, and Ilford Police and Community Consultative Group.
