Achhroo Ram Kapila, commonly known as A.R. Kapila or Achhroo Kapila, was a prominent figure in Kenya's legal landscape, particularly known for his expertise in criminal trial law and his representation of various African leaders.

Born on August 25, 1926, in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, Kapila's family relocated to Kenya in 1930, where he spent the remainder of his life. He embarked on his legal career after being called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in London in 1946, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the legal profession.


Kapila continued to make significant contributions to the legal field, representing other African leaders such as Julius Nyerere of Tanzania and Albert René of Seychelles. His legal expertise and commitment to justice earned him respect and admiration within Kenya and beyond.
