Joginder Singh Bhachu, nicknamed "The Flying Sikh," was a legendary Kenyan rally driver who dominated the grueling Safari Rally in the 60s and 70s. Born to Indian migrants in Kenya, he started young, working as a mechanic and eventually becoming the first patrolman for the Royal East African Automobile Association.

He carved his name in history by winning the Safari Rally a record three times, once in a Volvo PV544 and twice in a Mitsubishi Colt Lancer. Notably, he achieved this feat in one of the world's toughest rallies, known for its high attrition rate. Even amidst immense competition, his 19 finishes in 22 attempts remain unmatched.

Beyond his victories, Bhachu's resilience earned him the moniker "Unsinkable." He was one of the only seven crews to complete the 1968 rally, while the remaining 74 participants were stranded. This cemented his image as a skilled and determined driver, inspiring awe and admiration.
