He is the son of Gujarati-British entrepreneur Lakshmi Shanker Pathak.
He moved to England from Kenya with his wife Shanta and six children and £5 in his pocket and set up Pataku's grocery store in 1957.
Kirit has been there from the beginning, running errands at the age of 6 and dropping out of school at 17 to join the family business.
