Lord Narendra Patel

Born in Lindi, Tanzania, to Indian parents, Lord Narendra Patel's life is a symphony of medical brilliance and public service. But Lord Patel's impact extended far beyond the operating room. Knighted in 1997 for his services to medicine, he embraced a wider canvas for his leadership. He served as Chancellor of the University of Dundee from 2006 to 2017, guiding the institution through a period of growth and innovation. In 1999, his contributions to public life earned him a life peerage, becoming Lord Patel of Dunkeld in Perth and Kinross. In the House of Lords, he became a respected voice, advocating for improved healthcare, particularly for women and children.
